Welcome to the Thassan Talender Construction Company, located in the tropical paradise of Schendi. The Thassan Talender is owned and operated by India Dyln Hunter. The name of "Thassan Talender" comes from the symbology  of the thirty-two points of the Compass representing the petals of the Talender, which is incidentally yellow in color just as the colors of the Builder's Caste.

The Compass Talender [Compass Rose] has appeared on charts and maps for many centuries. The term "Talender" comes from the figure's compass points resembling the petals of the well-known flower. The 32 points of the Compass Talender come from the directions of the eight major winds, the eight half-winds and the sixteen quarter-winds.

The colors on the figure are the result of the need for graphic clarity rather than a mere cartographical whim. On a rolling ship at night by the light of a flickering lamp, these figures had to be clearly visible. Therefore the eight principle points of the compass are usually shown on the Compass Talender in black which stands out easily. Against this background, the points representing the half-winds are typically colored in blue and since the quarter-wind points are the smallest, they are usually colored red.

Standard Ship Orders

Ships of Gor, of whatever class or type, always have eyes painted on them, either in a head surmounting the prow, as in tarn ships, or, as in the Rena, as in round ships, on either side of the bow. It is the last thing that is done for the ship before it is first launched. The painting of the eyes reflects the Gorean seamen's belief that the ship is a living thing. She is accordingly given eyes, that she may see her way." ~ Raiders of Gor, pg. 183
